Radar2
VFR Radar App
Collision Avoidance System
Radar2 is an Android app primarily designed for use during flights on ultralight or microlight aircraft (LSA with or without an engine, three-axle, hang gliders, paragliders, etc.) or on GA aircraft in uncontrolled airspace (G). The app provides real-time information on the position and trajectory of other aircraft operating in the surrounding airspace and using the same application or compatible systems. The app is equipped with an automatic detection of potential mid-air collisions (ACAS) with visual signals and voice alerts that warn of impending dangerous events.
NEW Instrument Landing Controller
For all the aerodromes, managed by the AIP provider used or directly from the app, an "Instrumental Landing Controller" (ILC) is available. The ILC provides visual and audible indications on the landing maneuver, it is activated automatically when entering the final, after the base leg.
In the ILC dial (similar to that of an ILS) there is a crosshair to "follow" the correct glide path and an indicator of the airspeed compared to the theoretical approach speed (Vapp calculated for an engine-assisted landing considering the Vref of the aircraft, the runway used and the wind conditions).
The main functions of the app can also remain active in the background (sending any sound signals) while using other apps during the flight. The use of Radar2 therefore constitutes a valid support for VFR flights, increasing their safety.
The app uses the GPS and internet connection (5G, 4G, or 3G) of the device for its operation. It connects to the Open Glider Network (OGN community project) to exchange position data with other aircraft that use the same Radar2 app or interoperable systems (FLARM, OGN Trackers, etc.). Additional positions of ADS-B equipped commercial aircraft, flying at a compatible altitude, may also be received. See the App page for more information on the current version.
Using the app allows the aircraft to be tracked on a map on authorized remote sites and terminals (PCs, Smartphones, or Avionics devices). See the Radar2 Map page for real-time report of aircraft positions.
NEW Virtual Cockpit 3D
Board an OGN network aircraft and see what the pilot is seeing in real time.
You can choose the aircraft from the Radar2 Map page of this site or click on the GO button to choose a random flying aircraft of the selected type.
